It’s almost lunch time. I’m in the Poconos with twenty or so members of my chosen family. My family of actors and writers and friends who decided to form a theater company so that we could produce theater that matters (definitely to us, hopefully to others as well). We are doing what we love with people we love, and the annual retreat is the purest form it takes.
We arrived yesterday afternoon, and after promptly getting settled and having a quick lunch, we broke into two rehearsals of new plays written by members Richard Etchison and Juan Villa.
The plays could not have been more different in style, but both shared the common theme present in all of the work we’re interested in. They both stemmed from an inviolate sense of truth and respect for their stories, their characters, their poetry, and their laughter. What a great start. One full length and two shorts will be done today.
This is the most fun I can have away from my family.
Thank you, InViolet and to all of Our supporters for making it happen.
